Cefotaxime is an inhibitor of bacterial cell wall synthesis. It inhibits the crosslinking of peptidoglycan by binding and inactivating transpeptidases.
Cefotaxime is often used for the elimination of Argobacerium species after inoculation. It has high resistance against B-lactamase activity.
